PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — There are a number of Memorial Day events being held in Rhode Island on Monday, to remember the brave men and women who served our country. Here’s a list of some of them:

8 a.m. — The Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial is open to the public at Fort Adams State park until 6 p.m. The memorial has more than 7,000 boots filled with flags and name placards, to represent the lives of U.S. service members killed in action.

10 a.m. — The East Greenwich parade will start at the Academy Field, continue towards the World War II Memorial for a brief wreath-laying, then proceed to Town Hall for closing ceremonies.

10 a.m. — The South Kingstown parade will kick off on Holly Street in Wakefield, then turn south onto Main Street, and will conclude at Saugatucket Park.

10 a.m. — North Kingstown will kick off their ceremonies with a wreath laying on the grounds of Veterans Memorial Park. The town’s annual parade will start at 10 a.m. on West Main, Brown, and Phillips Streets to the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial for concluding ceremonies.

10 a.m. — A wreath laying and flag retirement ceremony will be held at Warwick Veterans Park. The public is invited to bring their old or tattered U.S. flags to be retired as part of the service.

10:30 a.m. — In Woonsocket, residents are invited to gather at the United Veterans Council Armed Forces Park to honor those who have sacrificed their lives.

1 p.m. — Gov. Dan McKee will deliver remarks at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Ceremony in Exeter.
