This summer we are celebrating all Rhode Islanders and newcomers in our diverse community, highlighting World Refugee Day, Immigrant Heritage Month, and the beautiful cultures represented here in the Ocean State! Tune in every Wednesday to watch special videos in celebration of our summer-long Virtual Welcoming Rhode Island Festival!

Today’s WRIF video features a musical performance by The Rhode Island Ukulele Armada!

“The Rhode Island Ukulele Armada was founded in 2010 by a stalwart group of adventurous, seafaring (kind of) ukulele enthusiasts. Since then, the Armada’s roster has grown to include over 20 musicians, vocalists and outrageous personalities who just might contribute to the fun at any given time.

This academic year Brien Lang, Admiral of the Armada, had the wonderful opportunity to work with Dorcas International and an amazing group of students from Nowell Leadership Academy in Olneyville. Through this connection, the Armada was invited to contribute to ‘Coming to Rhode Island,’ so we are now honored to share a classic song about the biggest little state that, we hope, will make you all feel welcome!”
