The conditions necessary for officially recognizing a Palestinian state have not yet been fulfilled, according to France’s foreign minister. This statement comes in response to the recent decision by three other European states to recognize Palestine in the hopes of fostering peace in the region.
“This is not merely a symbolic gesture or a matter of political positioning but a diplomatic tool aimed at achieving a solution where two states coexist in peace and security,” says Stephane Sejourne in a statement. He adds:
“France does not believe that the conditions have been met for this decision to effectively contribute to the peace process.”
