Netflix Developing a My Hero Academia Live-Action Movie
The live-action My Hero Academia movie will be directed and executive produced by Shinsuke Sato. The project marks his English-language directorial debut after working on live-action adaptation Kingdom and Bleach movies. Further details about the project are still being kept under wraps.
Created by Kōhei Horikoshi, the anime takes place in a world where most people are born with powers called quirks. The story revolves around a quirkless but brave young boy named Izuku Midoriya aka Deku, whose ultimate dream is becoming a hero just like his idol All-Might despite having no powers. Before entering high school, Deku gets to meet All-Might who chooses him to be the rightful successor of his power called One-For-All. Because of this, Deku was able to enroll at one of Japan’s most elite superhero academy called U.A. High School, where he forges lifelong friendships with other kids who share the same dream.
The series chronicles his journey to becoming the number one, while facing grave threats from the League of Villains and All Might’s nemesis All-For-One. The first six seasons of My Hero Academia are now available on Crunchyroll. The upcoming seventh season is expected to debut in the spring of 2024.
