Tracker – Mt. Shasta – Review

Colter puts a lot on the line to help strangers search for missing loved ones. Tonight, viewers learned just how much he is willing to risk when things get personal. Tasked by Reenie to find the teenage son of her friend, Erika, Colter finds himself entangled not just in a professional commitment, but also in the complicated feelings that he has for Reenie. This blend of personal stakes and professional duty set the stage for an episode filled with tension and intrigue.

The episode kicked off with an intense scene at Mt. Shasta, where viewers are thrust into the middle of a desperate chase through the forest, with Erika’s son, Noah, fleeing an unseen pursuer. This opening set a riveting tone, establishing the urgency and danger that face Colter as he works to locate Noah alive.

Noah’s background is quickly sketched out, revealing a troubled past with substance abuse, adding complex layers to his disappearance. The mystery deepens with the revelation from the boarding school security cameras which reveal that Noah was snuck off campus by a maintenance employee named Zeke, immediately suggesting that his disappearance is not merely a case of teenage rebellion.

The narrative takes a twist as Colter discovers Noah’s motives for leaving school- a heroic attempt to confront his girlfriend’s abusive ex. This disclosure adds emotional depth to the story, as it is now evident that Noah’s life could be in danger. Colter’s journey to find Noah leads him to locate a badly injured Zeke, who succumbs to his injuries, immediately upping the stakes.

As we get further into the series, viewers are quickly learning that Colter’s exceptional skills in negotiation and investigation stem from a complicated past. One that viewers still have so much to learn about. Regardless of the missing pieces of Colter’s past, he has quickly become a relatable hero with a knack for navigating the gray areas of human nature and law enforcement. Colter also never shies away from admitting when he is wrong, and apologizing to those he misjudged which is an admirable quality. One of the highlights of tonight’s episode was his innate ability to connect with the teenage characters. He was able to meet them at their level and his ability to comfort Noah and praise him for his heroic act, enabled Noah to remain calm as Colter brought him to safety.

It has been hinted since the first episode that there could be a potential romance budding between Colter and Reenie. Colter’s willingness to help her friend, demonstrating his support without any hesitation, has definitely cast him in a new light for Reenie. Although Colter’s nomadic lifestyle complicates the prospects of a potential relationship, it would make for a great storyline to see the two navigate these challenges.
